I'm doing research for a build for a friend and he wants to use an AMD FX 6300.
I have zero experience working with AMD and need some tips.

The FX 6300 is a socket AM3+ CPU, but all the boards I find with the AM3+ only have PCI-E as far as 2.0. Isn't Piledriver the latest AMD microarchitecture?

Can someone explain all the different chipsets?

Thanks.

Solution
it is negligible, because that only affects bandwidth, and the only cards that would take a hit from that are the 290x and 290. i can go put together a 600 euro build real quick 😛 do you need an OS, monitor, or keyboard/mouse?

The difference is from 5GT/s to 8GT/s, that's a 60% increase in transfer rate, that's not negligible.
He asked me to work with 600 €
