I've purchased a 6900k and am looking to finalize my search for an X99 board to put it on. I had the Asus X99 Deluxe II in my cart but upon reading the reviews I saw a bunch of horror stories about the Asus boards not working (or even killing) the new Broadwell chips. Is there any truth to this?

I currently am leaning towards the ASRock Taichi as it offers Wifi/Bluetooth at a lower price point than both MSI and Asus but I just wanted to make sure that I'm making an informed decision.

Here is the Newegg comparison of the 4 boards that I've looked into: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?CompareItemList=280%7C13-157-719%5E13-157-719%2C13-130-934%5E13-130-934%2C13-132-830%5E13-132-830%2C13-132-831%5E13-132-831

Thanks for your help!

The more I look at it, the more the Taichi sells itself. The fact that we're comparing a $220 board and a $400 board feature by feature is interesting.

The perks of the Deluxe seem to be 2 extra USB 3.1, the vertical M.2, and the lights (if that's your thing). I could see the M.2 locations on the Taichi being a problem if you're running SLI, but I think for my single card use the M.2 lower on the board should be isolated enough to dissipate heat.

I'd like the lights on the Asus, but it certainly doesn't command $180!
