I'm buying some RAM today and wondering if it's worth paying the extra $8 to get 3600Hz over 3200Hz which is only $8 cheaper. Will there be any difference in light multitasking and gaming? Thanks.

What is the make and model of your motherboard and the processor you've paired it with? BIOS version for said motherboard would help. Also, please pass on the links to both ram kits in case there are any differences in latencies on both kits.

Sorry for the late reply, my motherboard is asus prime b550m-k not sure of bios and the CPU is a am4 5600g, these are the ram kits from amazon.

and the 3200 kit:

Never heard of that make but both you linked are same RAM at 3200MHz, Cl 16, Where is the 3600MHz you were talking about?
In any case, what is more important is chips inside and can't find any data about that for those.

Worth is something only YOU can determine.
Will there be any difference, but likely minimal.
How much depends on your answers to Lutfji.
My take is that $8 is small enough that you will forever wonder if you bought the cheaper kit.

yeah true, I guess my question more so meant should i just take the 3600hz kit for $8 more as

I think theyre both on the same page but yeah its a cl18 3600. As for the Brand theyre a newer chinese brand I believe, I actually have a pcie 4.0 2tb ssd with them and it's pretty good but they do have mixed reviews haha.

Yeah, 8 bucks is not too much for faster RAM as Ryzen benefits of it and MB as well as CPU are compatible with 3600MHz. with OC by XMP or manually. If you are using only IGPU, that also benefits of faster RAM.
Problem is that only by trying it can be proven if and how well it works.

yeah true nah im using a 4070 super.

Your build is similar to mine l though mine is a Ryzen 7 5700x

I use a 4070 super. Which can run hot depending on model.
I had to repaste mine which dropped temps from 82c to 65. And hot spot of 92 down to 82.
Some manufacturers are using crap paste which causes alot of pump out.

Advice if GPU is getting quite hot

( Use MSI afterburner to set a custom fan curve of fans on 20 percent at 30c. 55c at 50 percent and 75c at 100 percent.) (As Nvidia fan curve is crap and will only ramp fans up once it's thermal throttling )

I would suggest going for 4 sticks kit of 3200mhz if your board supports 4 at cl16 is the sweet spot if your going 3600 it needs to be cl16 to be worth it.

The reason I say 4 sticks kit is because you'll get a 2-5 percent bump.

That being said must be a kit of 4 do not mix kits.

Neither kit you linked is available but my pick would be the 3600.

yeah I went ahead and bought both the cl18 kit and cl16 kit as these prices are the lowest i've ever seen in australia by a country mile for a 32gb kit and my lil brother has a 3400g set up with igpu so maybe ill give him the cl18 kit.

Hey there,

As others have pointed out Ryzen loves faster ram. 3200mhz CL 16 is similar to 3600mhz CL18, but I'd go for the 3600 CL18 or CL16, as this is optimum. What's been overlooked is that 3600mhz ram runs in a 1:1:1 ratio with mem clock/mem controller clock/infinity fabric clock. This gives the best latency as the ram and mem controller are running synchronously. Lower CL does not mean faster ram, it just means it has lower latency. 3600mhz with infinity fabric running at 1800mhz and either CL16 or 18 will do fine.

This is not a good idea. 4 x kits can put extra load on the IMC. With Ryzen it also means that you may be limited to lower speeds with four DIMM slots populated. Ideally the best solution is 32gb with a 2 x 16gb dual ranked kit. This truly gives the most bandwidth.

The way the Ryzen 5000 series works it takes advantage of 4 sticks unlike previous generation. Speed doesn't contribute as much unless it's cl16 any higher 18 etc even with higher speeds tends to perform worse.

I am using a kit of 4 sticks at 3200 zero issues but a uplift of performance.

Good for you. I'm glad it's working as you intended :) Yes, GN did a good review there.

However, the point still stands. 32gb in a 2 x 16kit with 3600mhz dual ranked ,for a 1:1:1 ratio yields best latency, and would be a better choice.
