Choosing Intel CPU

I am building a pc used primarily for gaming and I am deciding what CPU to get. I was looking at the i5s and i7s, and people had a number of contradicting opinions. I will also be using the computer for internet searches and perhaps some work, and was therefore thinking of the i7. Some said that the i7 had the potential to worsen gameplay. Since this is the most important aspect of the computer, I would like to make sure that doesn't happen-so...
Basically what CPU should I get with my build?

From the sounds of it the i5 should be fine for you, the i7 would be stronger for video work and other types of apps that employ hyper threading, if you want to go i7, that would fine too, it's stronger and No, it's not going to hurt gaming

Could be worth a look, I seldom ever use them for builds except servers
