Choosing M.2 SSD for GL552VW

Hi there. I'm planning to purchase Asus ROG GL552VW laptop. You can see the specs here:

I'm looking for a powerful M.2 SSD to go with it but I am a bit confused with some specifications of new SSDs. From what I understand, the laptop has a PCIe x 4 capability for the SSD but I am not sure what 2.0 and 3.0 stands for and which one this laptop uses. I'm looking at Samsung XP941 and 950 pro SSD-s, the latter being preferable due to much higher read speed. However, I'm not sure if it will work with the laptop and if the laptop will be able to benefit from the speed difference.

Here are the specs of the SSDs. I think the difference is that one is PCIe x4 2.0 and the other is 3.0. Any thoughts?

Those 950 pro's will work with your laptop, those numbers stand for revisions, but since the rog laptop has intel skylake cpu, it will have pcie gen 3.0

I beg to differ. The 950 is not recognized by the bios, windows, or samsungs software. I may have defective hardware, but check the ROG forums.

Its either you choose m.2 850 evo or 860 evo. NVMe does not support GL552VW. Don't ask me how I know it.
