I've been making a pc build to create but I keep getting stuck in-between the GTX 770 and GTX 780. I'm already $40 over my budget price, but I wanted to ask if it is worth it to save up money to get the 780 instead of the 770.

I will be doing 1080p gaming with a single monitor and playing games on ultra like dayz, bf3/4, titanfall, farcry3, tomb raider, games like that. Would it benefit me more to get the 780 or would I be fine with 770 on 1080p with just one monitor...

Build incase it helps: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3EWqL

Did we cover this before in another thread ?..... If not, must be someone else w/ exact same build

The 780, especially the Asus and MSI models are rather special cards. The Asus won all the initial reviews because of it's great overclocking headroom making it 2nd only to the 780 Ti in "Bawlz to the Wall" overclocked performance. The 25% OC's you can get on a 780 put it well above the stock 780 Ti. A 780 Ti can be overclocked a significant amount also but that's generally a $700 purchase.

Yesterday, the MSI 780 Ti was the obvious choice..... nothing else even comes close in price or performance at yesterday's $600 price tag ..... now it's back up to $680.

The 780 became an excellent choice when the 780 Ti's introduction pushed...
I think the 770 is definitely the choice here for 1080p gaming. Of course the 780 does perform better however the performance increase you would get is not nearly as substantial as a jump from say a 760 to a 770. Bottom line, a 770 will run everything you throw at it on max settings at 60fps or higher. If you are still looking to spend a bit more money you could think about upgrading your CPU or even getting a better case with more airflow. Either way to answer your question the 770 is a solid buy.

The 780 became an excellent choice when the 780 Ti's introduction pushed the price down to $500. The Asus took all the initial reviews with MSI usually in 2nd but MSI canned the 780 Frozr (902 MHz) nd replaced it with the 780 N Gaming Series @ 954 Mhz.... It's $450 price tag after MIR makes it a steal.

A subpar EVGA SC is $510
Gigabyte Windorce matches the MSI's Core speed at $490
Asus is also at $510

With the best 770s going for $349, the $450 780 is very attractive

What...was it a $600 even? A little over a week ago I found a Gigabyte 780ti for like $620. But there was an MSI for $600? I'm assuming it was on newegg?

How did I miss this 🙁
