Choosing my next Graphics card

Hey guys!

I am getting paid very soon and I have been wanting to upgrade my graphics card for the games which are coming out in the future as my current one is being stretched to the limit as it is. However I am on the fence on which card I should be getting.

My current system is:
CPU: AMD-FX-8320
GPU: R7 260x
RAM: 2 Sticks of 4GB
PSU: 550W

Other significant parts which use power are the 1TB hard drive and the Wireless card I have in the back.

I am currently thinking about upgrading to the R9 280x but as I think about it more it will be soon outdated also. So would It be better to skip the middle and get a GTX 970? Or something else?

just go for the 970, it's a much better card, but your cpu will bottleneck it.

if i would have been in your place i would have choosen an amd graphics card, amd graphics cards are more power efficient so for 550 watt psu go for amd r9 280 x is good choice though

ya but keep one thing in mind , you didn't mentioned your psu brand , i hope its is evga or superflower in short some reliable brand....

If you have enough money I would personally go with the AMD Radeon R9 280X/290X or the NVIDIA GTX 970.

Technically it's £450, but I'm not looking to spend more than £300 at a stretch
