Choosing PCI-E slot

I have an MSI x99a Gaming 7 Mobo, and Titan X. Problem is that the coolers for my Dominator ram damn near touch the Titan (close enough to make me VERY nervous about a short). Will it matter if I move the Titan down a slot? You can see in the pic how close the coolers are to PCIe 1:

Why do you even need those coolers?
You can run the card in the second slot, but running it in the first should be fine. If its not touching nothing is going to happen to it.

Well the heat will go to the left assuming you have a fan at the back of your PC so the heat from the RAM won't affect your GPU.

Well, for 1... they do look really cool. And for 2... I plan on seriously overclocking. This is going to be a production machine for animation and game development. I'm just nervous about if the machine gets bumped, or if I transport it (if capacitors hold a charge during transport) and a small gap translates to them touching during jarring.
