Hello,
Currently looking at

G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Core i5 1.5V Memory Kit

This is for an all purpose/gaming platform.

Opinions?

Sorry, perhaps a little more info would be help...

Currently looking at the Asus P8P67 Pro. Rev 3.0 ATX, with the Phenom II x6 1100t Black Edition, with a Noctua NH-D14 LGA1155 heatpipe cooler...

Video card is still up in the air... mebbe the Radeon HD 6870 900 MHZ?

Um... The ASUS P8P67 motherboard is for an Intel LGA1155 processor (Sandy Bridge). You won't have much luck installing that AMD X6 CPU... May consider changing that to an i3-2100 / i5-2400 / i5-2500 / i5-2500k or other LGA1155 processor.

To answer your question, that memory would be fine in that motherboard and would be a good choice.

Great advice! That's why I come to this site.

As an aside, Rainbow Trout pairs especially well with Sam Adams Beer!

The ASRock looks great and saves me almost $100.

I was just looking at towers and power supplies...Coolmaster Haf 912 Black Mid Tower, with a Antec Earthwatts 750w M.P.S. 135mm fam. So Far so good?

And another $70 saved, the CPU cooler will do the trick. As it stands I'm still under $800 for the new system.

From the top:

Tower- Coolmaster Haf 912
Power- Antec Earthwatts 750w
MoBo- ASRock 970
CPU- AMD Phenom IIx6 1100t Black Edition
CPU Cooler- Cooler Master Hyper 212
Ram- G. Skill F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws
Video Card- XFX Radeon HD 6870 900 MHZ 1GB 4.2GHZ GDDR5
Hard Drive- Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB (X2)

I'll still keep my LG monitor, and I'll transfer my DVD Burner from the old system.

Now to sell it to my partner, her kids will be the easy sell!
