Choppy Playback on 4K TV?

Recently just bought a Philips 4K TV but when i try to play movies in VLC or Media Player for example the playback is choppy, it runs at 60fps for a bit then will drop for a few seconds then return. This happens when playing 4K files and just normal HD Files. I've tried to adjust a load of settings etc but nothing fixes it. My GPU is a GTX 970, Processor AMD 8 CORE and i have 16GB of RAM with everything up to date. The only way i've found so far to fix the choppy playback is to enable 'Game' mode on the TV but that removes the 60fps playback and makes the picture look bad...

Also my GTX970 is saying the native resolution should be 1080p not 4K but i can still select 4K resolution.

motion interpolation isn't really my favourite thing but you can keep you tv in game mode and run
https://www.svp-team.com/wiki/Main_Page (converts file to 60fps in real time) with mpchc (win media player) https://mpc-hc.org/
you also may have to alter settings on your tv to get above 4k 30fps, most tv's require you to go to setting - external inputs - hdmi and select "enchanced mode" or similar to have it in hdmi 2 mode (rather than 1.4).
