full system specs? including make and model of psu and monitors resolution, personally I think the 6870 is in kind of a bad spot price wise, for a couple extra dollars you can get yourself a gtx 560ti or hd 6950 1 gig which would both be superior or for that matter you might still be able to pick up a 5850 or 5870 for cheap which would probly run you less. for the money imo, especially considering the fact that you could oc a 560 to near 570 speeds. I have owned 6870s in crossfire and they had many driver problems, performance wise, it is a 5850. This is my .02 cents but I have owned these cards and for 200+ it is honestly not all that great, I would feel better about paying less and getting about the same performance or paying a...

Id say either get a 5850 or 5870 which is better price/perf imo or go with a 6950/gtx 560, please tell me your specs..?

here is a couple recomendations: keep in mind the 5850/6850 will oc to 6870 performance and beyond usually...

it seems that all the good deals on 5850s on newegg are currently sold out, im sure you could find a similar deal, but here is an example:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150505&cm_re=6850-_-14-150-505-_-Product

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150523&cm_re=6950-_-14-150-523-_-Product

you get what you pay for, but in the case of the 6870 with current market value it is just not the case

a 1gig 6950 would be a most desired alternative, but the ones on Newegg are Out of Stock, and im unsure about the XFX one due to all the negative reviews.

yeah I would ignore the reviews, it is basically a reference model 6950 except with 1 gig of memory, if you are playing at 1080p or less it will make no difference. I would ignore the reviews on newegg, most of the time people don't have a clue what they are doing and leave negative reviews that are un warranted. XFX is a great brand and carrys a double lifetime warranty, meaning that if you sell it the lifetime warranty can transfer to a future owner. I have owned many XFX cards and never had an issue, that case looks pretty awesome, good luck... what about a gtx 560 the evga one is 232 once you add it to the cart, that would be ideal imo, not to mention that it could likely overclock to near gtx 570/ hd 6970 levels
