hey everyone, as of monday i will be building a "budget" gaming rig and right now i have a 9800GT going in it until christmas. now a few questions, 1st which card is better a 3870 X2 or a 4850? 2nd will a 3870 X2 work with this mobo and psu?:

GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P43 ATX Intel Motherboard and
Rosewill RP500-2 500W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply

ive looked at some benchmarks and the 3870 X2 performs a little better than the 4850. the games i will mostly be playing are CoD4, Crysis, CoD2, Bioshock, and Grid. but not all benchmarks are the same, the resolution ill be playing at is 1440x900, or the lower widescreen resolution. i have a widescreen monitor at 19". so please give input as best to your knowledge and thanks in advance

I personally think 4850 would be better because 1)Less heat it's 1 card. 2)Less power consumption (same reason as #1)

It also sports DX10.1 as well as Shader Model 4.0 which is a bonus compared to the 3870. If you feel rich you can opt for 4870 512mb (which I recommend). Offers a lot more power but around 100 bucks more which I think is a fair for the performance it brings.

They use Fuhjyyu caps, which are complete crap.

If you have confidence in it, then enjoy.

If and when the time comes, remember I tried to warn you.

dont worry that psu will last. if it dies a year or later down the road upgrade it.
since your budget seems like within 175-250$ might i suggest the old gtx260. performs very well and can be found for around 200$

yeah i kinda want to have this pc running an ATI card. my main pc (in the sig) has GTX 260 216 so i would like to work with ATI in this budget rig. and this budget rig will change from a cheap rig to a high-end machine over a short time, i just have to start somewhere. thanks for all the input guys. HD4850 under the tree to me from me lol
