Chrome lags like hell everytime I download a file

Whenever I download a largish file (>100mb) chrome starts to lag and be very slow to navigate through until the download is complete and then it runs fine. This happens with any type of file downloaded. is there a solution to this, or must i use another browser?

change browser bes way or download cc cleaner free version & clean all that excess temp internet files & clean ur registry that helps a lot

but it's only with chrome, whilst downloading a file, other programs work fine without lag.
I have quite a high specced desktop.

go to 10 much better 7 is outdated trust me go to 10 & use edge u wont look back as updates for 7 be none existent soon where 10 works on everything i been using it on
