My computer crashes without warning when visiting certain websites (ie Bitcoinwisdom.com) and also some page will load incorrectly, such as Amazon which loads with a fixed search bar that does not disappear as you scroll down and covers parts of the page (amazon could not assist with fixing issue) It loads normally in IE but not chrome which is my main browser.

I've tried clearing browsing data, reinstalling windows 7, and updating all drivers to no avail.

I'm thinking it might be a hardware issue. I have no problems with crashing during more intensive use such as gaming, though, mostly just from web browsing.

Some applications are conflicting with Google Chrome. Fortuntaely Google has a technology to display a list of all modules and figure out those modules which are not well functioning. To do so, write "chrome://conflicts" in the address bar and hit ENTER. You'll see couple of modules. Uninstall programs related to conflicting modules.
