ChromeCast YouTube Casting Issue

So I have a bunch of TVs connected to a central chromecast device through an hdmi splitter. The WiFi connectivity allows you to cast to these TVs through chromecast.

The issue is anyone connected to the WiFi can cast to the chromecast.


I tried setting up different passwords for the 2 and 5ghz networks through the router but of the chromecast is connected to the 2ghz network anyone on the 5ghz can cast.

Is there anyway to change settings so only the network assigned to the chromecast can have other devices that are only connected to the same network cast through youtube?

to separate the networks you need a vlan. your control device has to be on the same lan. ddwrt can broadcast multiple routed vlans. 2g and 5g are just frequencies, it doesn't have anything to do with the switching/routing. a separate vlan will need it's own ssid per freq(assuming no band steering).

check the google home app for possible settings for casting before trying to change your wifi around.

The issue is the 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi are probably coming from the same device and thus they are not on seperate networks. If you want the networks separated, you will need to have 2 devices that are on different networks supply the WiFi. One would handle the 2.4 GHz WiFi and the other would only handle the 5 GHz WiFi.
