Hello,

I've read from Google searches (Some leading to this site) that a lot of people have self-taught Cisco and then taken the exams.

What I don't understand is how the book systems work and how they lead onto one another.

For example there is 100-101, 200-101, 640-554 etc but I can't find exactly which order one should begin and the order they go through.

Right now I just want to start learning and get some qualifications under my belt and see where that leads.

Regards,

I currently am undertaking CCNA myself, I'm in the USMC training as a Data Network Specialist (0651) And what we covered was the following:

IT Essentials (Computer components and specifications; Troubleshooting)
Subnetting and basic Routing (Static routing and basic router configuration in IOS)
Routing Protocols (RIP, RIPv2, EIGRP, OSPF; studied also: BGP, IS-IS, IGRP, etc. It's covered.)
LAN Switching and Wireless (Layer 2 and 3 switches, STP/VTP/VLANs...)

Those are some of the things that will be covered in CCNA.
