Clean Install of Win 8.1 Question

What happens to the existing BIOS on a computer when you do a clean install of Win 8.1? Is it replaced when you install 8.1? I plan on doing the install on a four year old computer running Win 7.

The BIOS will remain the same , your installing an OS , your not flashing a BIOS.
