I bought a refurbished HP desktop recently and it came pre installed with Windows 8 on the hard drive. I want to now install it on my new SSD but I do not have any install files for windows 8. I did however find my product key. Is there anyway to install windows 8 on my SSD with out the install files?

Just tried this but it said
"This key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows 8"

Really appreciate the help from the both of you. I knew I would have at least one snag with HP. Thank for the help.

You could create a recovery drive and install it on your SSD by copying the contents of C to an external drive or DVD disks. You would also need a Repair disk. (I normally do this with 2 pen drives) If you want to try I'll list the steps for you...
