Alright so heres my questions guys.

I am going to be buying a new 120gb ssd soon and I want to put windows on that because frankly my 60gb is running out of space.

I have an upgrade disc to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit and am wondering if I can simply put that in and go through that process or do I have to put windows xp on my computer first and then go through the upgrade process?

If I simply use the upgrade disc will it let me activate it no problem?

Thats what I was thinking however I do currently have windows 7 on my computer but if I try to load windows onto a new blank ssd I am thinking it may not work at all. However I have found a few links out there that show workarounds.

The Windows 7 upgrade dvd does allow you to create a clean install without XP having to be installed before. In fact this is the best way to do it. However if your system is running well on the 60Gb SSD then you probably should just clone the old drive to the new SSD using Clonezilla. It will copy the complete drive (and appear as a 60Gb drive) over so once you boot into windows you will need to go to the disk manager and expand the partition up to the full 120Gb.

Another good freeware drive image copier is Diskcopy 2.3 : http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/
