[SOLVED] Clean installation of Windows 10 without losing the Windows 7 key

Hi folks!

A friend of mine has been using his laptop with Windows 7. He has installed/uninstalled many apps which means now he has a dirty Windows. He wants to do the free upgrade to Windows 10 if it's still possible and use the Windows 7 key.

Side question: Is upgrading from CSM to UEFI using Media Creation Tool done automatically?

Supposedly you can use the windows 7 product key. I have once used windows 8.1 key for one of my PC. The key used will show as an upgrade. Not sure about whether the windows 10 version would be a pro or a nonpro.

Where did the original WIn 7 license come from?

Upgrading to Win 10 will probably work, using that Win 7 license key.

And you must select the proper Win 10 version.
Home -> Home, Pro -> Pro.
