Because apparently I'm stupid. I applied it to the silver plate on top of the cpu and accidentaly rubbed some of it on PCB surrounding it. It left some residue because I realized that I shouldn't be using what I was using in the process and left it not-perfectly clean and the polish remover itself might have left behind some other substances after evaporating as well

The CPU wasn't really drowning in aforementioned polish remover and it was evaporating quite easily

My questions are - Have I just wrecked the CPU by letting some of the substance get on the plastic around the processor?

If not, am I able to... umm... "neutralize" my mistakes by cleaning it with something like isopropyl alcohol?

Also sory for asking stupid questions

Solution
Cleaning it with a microfiber soft cloth will be fine, lightly. If it works, and works for several hours, you will be fine. While that stuff is pretty strong and does melt some plastics, if the system is working, it's working.
