Cleaning flat secreen monitor

Hi group,

I'm a Dell owner, but I have a question about cleaning a flat screen
monitor I recently bought to go with my Dell.

I tried using those pre-moistened, alcohol free wipes that you can buy,
but it left streak marks on my monitor. Is there a better way to clean
these things? What do you folks do?

I always thought ispropyl alcohol was good for that, but in some places
I read it can yellow the display. Where I have read that, the suggestion
is to use ethel alcohol. I've also read just the opposite.

What I use and have never seen anything against is diswashing liquid
(Dawn, etc.). Dampen a clean soft cloth with dishwashing liquid and
water. Clean screen. With clean soft cloth moistened with water only,
wipe off solution. Then dry with a clean soft cloth.

I've been using this for several years on my portable system with no
problems. And no streaks.

Of course, turn off system before cleaning, just in case.

Get yourself an Optical Grade Cloth, the type of material that oakley
sunglasses come with. You should be able to buy one from an optometrist
or a Photographics store. Then to clean the screen just wipe it gently
with the cloth. No need to use any chemicals.

Thanks, I was wondering where I could find the microfiber cloths.

These days, it might very well be the household cleaning section of a large
super market or department store. As for cleaning with these things -
they say they get more efficient after a cycle in the good ol' washing
machine first. Use dry, or juuust slightly moist, if there's dried-in stuff
you need to get rid of. You could add a drop of dish-washing detergent too,
though it's often overkill. Microfiber cloths are crazy effective even
without it.

I bought mine at CompUSA: 3M Microfiber Electronics Cloth.
