i need to clean my pc out as its a good 7 years old and has never had a good cleaning. The problem is i dont have any compressed air. Ive thought about using a hair dryer and ive heard that a vaccum is dangerous. Any ideas?

After 7 years...go buy a can of compressed air.
A hair dryer does not have enough directed pressure.

i shouldnt say 7 years its had light cleanings every now and then but theres still noticable dust

Drive carefully with your Desktop to your local service station. Ask politely to use their air pump/blower, or tire pump. Screw on a small but reasonably powerful attachment if possible. Stand back a reasonable distance and clear that filth right out of that case. =) Long as you're careful, it's far more preferable to any other method I've come by for cleaning a particularly filthy case. Once done with the blower, use some gauze with alcohol to clean off whatever remains on the fans and case. Afterwards, buy some compressed air and keep your case clean on a regular basis (at least twice a year or more, as needed).

And the oil used to lube those air compressors comes right out at ya.
It's just a teeny bit, but I would not trust a gas station air compressor.

I've used my personal air compressor, but I know that the blower attachment has no oil in it.

Personal Air Compressor is even better. Long as the pump is working as it should, the only thing that should come out of it is a jet of pressurized air, nothing more. At least, that's been my experience when I had to clean out a couple of shamefully dirty desktop cases.

ive just cleaned it out with the poor mans compressed air (mouth+straw) and the only place that the hair dryer didnt get was the half pound in the cpu cooler. pretty sure i just inhaled 7 year old dust. there was mold on that dust.
