Cleaning thermal paste with Ethanol

Greetings,

I'm going to remove my stock CPU cooler with an evo 212x, I was wondering, can I clean the thermal paste with fiber cloth and 96% volume ethanol alcohol?

Should be fine. I think the metal plate over the CPU is pretty resilient to corrosives so ethanol should be no problem.

I recommend using coffee filters or kitchen paper towels to remove the old thermal paste first. then using the ethanol with paper towels to clean the remaining oils and particles left to a shiny clean finish. you don't need a fiber cloth (might even create static electricity which you don't want).
