Couldn't find any isopropyl alcohol in the local chemist so my bro bought a liquid based hand sanitizer. Is this good enough to remove stock thermal paste from a G3258?

It contains:
Alcohol Denat, Aqua (Water), Propylene Glycol, Carbomer, Triethanalomine, Parfum (Fragrance), Linalool.

I wouldn't do that, you might screw something up, coz water is conductive. You won't be able to get the sanitizer from the cpu completely after cleaning. That isn't an issue with high % alcohol since it evaporates fast by itself.

The word Chemist sounds like outside the USA. Where are you?

No don't use hand sanitizer, it will leave a residue and if you spill it you are doomed. The linalool in particular has a boiling point near 300C, so it won't be evaporating soon. (Organic Chemist in other life)

From UK, ended up using the sanitizer as I would have to wait next week for one to come from ebay. Rubbed it alot with a cloth after the paste was removed to make sure I got max cleaning. Applied new paste and so far ok after having ram troubles which was due to cpu being on too tight due to the cooler.
