So what happens if you press the clear cmos button with computer fully powered on? Will this ruin components? I did it and fell as tho the gpus are messed up...🙁 the manual never specified.
Pc:
Intel 5820k
Gtx 970 sli
16 gb gddr4 2400kHz
Msi x99s gaming 7 mb

Ok good to hear:) well long story short I had 2 gtx 970s not working right, sli wouldn't work, had lid pop, looked like 2s graphics in some areas, bad alising, to name a few, returned to company they did work with me to fix the issue I rma'd the cards. They sent me new ones and bam issues solved. But my gpu was tuning at 62 when gaming witch isn't normal for this rig as I have gpu water cooler. At this time. I did install invidia inspector and fell this may have messed something up as well. When I click apply it doesn't show it applying so I'm thinking it messed up the settings and won't revert? I have updated bios because of old card issues. So I tried downgrading bios so I could use my old profiles.... That's when the issues started bios crashes when using m flash I thought I could revive it by hitting the reset button and clear cmos button, have not tried removing the battery and jumper as I don't have a jumper. Finally was able to revive bios using Rufus and the freedos, however it did break windows so I had to use instalation media to revive it. now the cards performance is not as good and there is a lot of lod pop in in ark, arma, but witches 3 is fine. 3 games I tested. Curiosity killed the cat. But it learned what not to do.
Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense in using a cell phone.
Thanks for the help:)

Oh also to get to the reset button I had to remove the bottom card, and when I took it out and put it back in I accidently left the power cord in and switch on. However I was wearing an antistatic strap. Would this cause damage?

very unlikely if the machine was powered off. if it wasnt, a bit more possible, but again still unlikely. you can pretty much mess with any part in a machine, on or off. it will generally just cause it to freeze and work normally when its rebooted. there is always a small chance of shorting things though.

When I said gpu tuning. I meant "cpu temp was 62°c. Temp isn't normal for this rig as I have cpu water cooler".
Sorry for the confusion. My spell check changes words even tho it's what I want to say.
power supply: crosshair cs850m 80plus 850w csm series gold fully modular.

i suspected you might have a low quality power supply. i have a feeling that may be causing your issues. quite frankly, the cs850m model is crap for a sli 970 rig.

wouldnt worry about cpu temp, that is still normal range. try reapplying thermal past if you are really worried about it.

ok thank you what model psu would you recommend? yea it was between downgrading bios or thermal past, I choose bios lol ever since then been having issues with gpu. when I first put the cards in they worked perfectly! could the psu have damaged them?

ok so I have yet to get a new psu. however I did test the wattage draw and its only drawing 300w from the wall. does this seem normal? I mean 300w and 850w are no wear near close to each other. would the psu still be an issue? I used model😛4460.01 Kill A watt EZ meter to test.

I never changed the psu just took a measurement it was drawing 300w max from the wall while playing Arma3. It is a good measurement however I'm alittle skeptical that the psu may be causing an issue as its a 850w psu gpuz also reports that both cards are running 100% power, would I still need a psu? am I missing something? or could the issues be caused from something else? its all over the internet that x99 platform is bad with games is it possible the games just don't like the platform? everything else on the pc works fine except games.
