I'm building a new high end PC soon as an upgrade from my current one. I'm trying to minimize expenses so I'm keeping my GTX 1070, power supply, CPU cooler, case, and SSD. For the new build I'm buying an Intel i7 7700k, 2 new 1TB hard drives, new compatible motherboard, 2x8 GB RAM. I want to know how I can completely clean my SSD so there are no remnants of my old PC. Also if there's any other issues you guys can warn or ask me about, feel free, I want to make sure I will have everything in order. Thanks!

Solution

So a whole new Win 10?

No problem.
Boot from your install media.
During the install, it will ask 'where'.
Select Custom. and you'll be presented with a list of all existing partitions.
Select each, DELETE.
Leaving one large blank space.
Create a single partition, and let Windows create what it needs.

Poof...all of the old stuff is gone.

1. What OS is this? Licensing issues may come into play.

2. If it is just you for a new system, during the Windows install you can delete ALL existing partitions and start fresh.

I agree, unless it's locked to the mobo, or just lazy

Windows 7, upgrading to 10 with a new disk
