As far as WD goes, the beeping is mainly a firmware issue, which means the PCB can be damaged or the firmware itself corrupted.
There are models when this means the engine is dead, but this is fairly rare.
Anyway, to solve your problem:
1/ Try to plug your drive on another computer. If you use Windows, try a Mac or a Linux OS. This can work. Copy your data as you soon as you have access ( so get another drive ready or some space somewhere).
2/ If nothing works and you need your data, then you can go on and open the external box, plug the drive (Sata) to a motherboard of a PC. This can work too.
