Dear friends,
I have 2 of these hdd and nr 1 where my OS is installed started doing THE clicking sound. These hdd are less than 1 year old.
So after I did my research I came across a solution which was - assuming the problem originated on a faulty pcb (printed circuit board), and that's what I really hoped for - to replace the faulty pcb with a new one.
So I did take disk 2's pcb, since they're exactly the same model and bought them at the same time, and placed it on disk 1.
Started the pc and the clicking noise was gone. However even though the bios listed the hdd (1) it showed no model name or serial and showed it had 0 (zero) bytes capacity! Is was better than not listing the device at all.
Not satisfied, obviously, I switched the pcb's back the way they were before, disk 1 ( the faulty one) with the original pcb and disk 2 likewise.
Now both are listed but without a model name or serial and zero bytes capacity.
Conclusion, the system will still not boot, and I don't know what to do.
Can anyone help?
Thank you,
Lolo
