Hello, I've got an old machine that has been running 16 hours a day since summer of 2002. The clock has started to fall behind recently. I replaced the CMOS battery and it's still falling behind. I was wondering if someone could tell me what else would cause the clock to fall behind?

The oscillating crystal in the mobo gives keeps your time on your mobo. e.g. if the crystal is 2mhz then by default the time on the mobo advance 1 second in every 2 million oscillation. The frequency of the crystal is controlled by the voltage of electricity. Higher voltage means higher frequency. In an old mobo with a new battery, I think the circuitry develop resistance (from micro-fracture in the circuit from repeated thermal expansion) and contributes to the slowdown.
