got a new laptop with win10 64 bit on it and I want to clone it to a samsung evo850 256gb that i have that has win10 from another laptop....meaning i need to erase the m.2 first before the clone

i installed the m.2 ssd

samsung's data migration should handle this but when i installed it from their site and ran it last night, it was stuck at 0mb cloned for 12 hours, i clicked cancel the clone and nothing happened so i shutdown the computer and rebooted and now the computer is trying to boot from the m.2 and repair win10 on it, which is not correct.

when i remove the m.2 , everything boots properly from the original win10 hdd drive

tried samsung magician secure erase and it won't allow me to erase the m.2

how can i get the samsung data migration software to work?

how can i clean erase the m.2 so that when i install it in the laptop, it doesn't attempt to boot from it instead of the hdd?

goal is to boot from the original hdd win10 while i have the m.2 ssd connected

when i turn the laptop on now, it's trying to boot from the m.2 drive, not allowing me to do anything

if i navigate thru win10 advanced options and click UEFI firmware settings and restart, this should boot from the motherboard....allowing me to reset the boot order to the original hdd with win10 correct?

if for some reason i can't change the boot order and went in and removed the m.2 ssd from the laptop, restarted the laptop, it shoud just boot properly from the hdd with the oriiginal win10, correct?

i should be able to change the boot order allowing me to boot up properly from the hdd and then possibly access the m.2 so that i can figure out a way to erase it
