[SOLVED] Clone the data on a failing hard drive?

So I needed some extra storage, and dug out an old hard drive that I wasn't using. It has been sitting in a shed for a year, but back when I've put it there it worked just fine.

Now that I downloaded a bunch of stuff on it it started to rapidly degrage, the amount of "pending sectors" going from 7 to 500 in under 48 hours. I've ran chkdsk, but even with a bunch of sectors replaced it didn't help much. Copying to another drive just gives me an error.

Now, here's my question. The programs can be selectively redownloaded based on what's missing. Will a proper cloning utility copy all the data and leave empty spaces where it is corrupted, or will it just automatically fail when something doesn't go right?

What would help me the most is moving literally everything, corrupted or not, as it is on the failing drive now.

cloning will copy the data as it is, if corrupted it will copy it in that manner, corrupted. you will have an exact copy of the corrupted data.

Ah, that's excellent. I was hoping just copying the files would work, but that just refuses to move it, which isn't great with big but repairable files.
