I have an old Dell XPS laptop that seems to have issues with something to starting up.
My guess is that the motherboard is defective. But I can manage to boot in to windows 1 of 100 bootings.

So I cloned the disk with the software V2HD to a .VHD file.
I can start the disk in a another computer with virtual box.
I have some software installed, I invested for a couple of years ago that are important for me.
When trying to open the software in VM the program asjs for product registration? In the computer that software is installed works fine.
Is there a way around this? I read somewhere that the smbios should be set true, but what I can see it is set to true.
I own the license for six of this program and have always got help from the company to renew the key registration when I bought a new computer.
Can only use same registration key once.

But when the company changed their owners, they changed their sale strategy and said no and let me know that private persons can't buy their software any longer. And they are working with schools and bigger companies not private persons anymore.

I sent them my receipt of the licenses (pretty expensive for me) I bought from them (Simutech Multimedia) but that didn't matter to them.

Is there a way around, I just want be able to run the software I have the rights to.
Anyone with knowledge how to workaround.

Its more then likely seeing that the Hard drive serial number has changed with the VM and throwing the hardware change error.

We have this issue at work when i move the VM that hosts our Rockwell software to a new server. You need to find the serial number of the original hard drive on the old computer and then change the VM hard drive to that.
