Cloned OS from HDD to m.2 SSD

Hey!

so my brother going to give me M.2 SSD (Samsung 970 EVO 1TB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD) and I want to install it as my main drive for OS (desktop PC), and I found out that I can clone my HDD to SSD without a problem
so I saw this video

and I'm readyyyyy to do it (
but... the only problem is... I have a Gigabyte motherboard (GA-H170-HD3) and I don't know what to change in the bios.
there are so many videos out there but all of them is outdated or not properly explained or not Gigabyte motherboard.
can somebody please help me with this? any guide with photos or video that explains?
also after the cloning.. does the SSD will be called "C:/" ?
and should I use "Macrium Reflect" or "Samsung Data Migration" ?

one last thing guys, should I update the bios?

During the cloning process, disconnect any and all drives that are not directly involved with this procedure.

Your steps are mostly correct.
Just don't be too quick about reconnecting your old drive. Get the BIOS settings correct before you connect that old drive.

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:

Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.

So basically after cloning the HDD to the SSD I take out the hard drives and leave only the SSD?
and I don't know what I need to change in Bios. I need video or photos or something to show me how
also before all this, I need to install the drivers and format the m.2 drive?

I saw this now and the guy in the video explained to me properly.
does Samsung's software also copies the recovery and all the things that Macrium Reflect copies?

The Samsung software clones the drive as is. Meaning any partitions that are on the existing drive will be copied over to the new drive. It will look the same. So if you have the normal 2 hidden partitions 10 makes and then the main partition they will be the same size and consume the same space.

I have used the Samsung software to clone a HDD to an SSD and after it was done I shut the system down, pulled out the HDD and booted the SSD and it worked just as if the HDD were in, only a ton faster.

Swapping the cables around is applicable with 2x SATA connected drives.
For yours:
Power OFF
Disconnect the old drive
Allow the system to try to boot up from only the new NVMe drive.

after booting the PC with NVMe drive, should I plug back the HDD? but if I do that, how the PC know from where to boot?

You only connect the old drive after you've verified that it actually boots OK from the new drive.

'from where to boot'? In the BIOS, remove the old drive from the boot order.

and how I do that? "remove the old drive from the boot order". is there a guide to the Gigabyte motherboard?

so after disconnecting the HDD and see everything is ok with SSD, I plug the HDD back and boot to the bios and change the order to
Boot 1 : NVMe PCIe
Boot 2 : HDD

Leave the term RAID out of your lexicon.
Unless you know what it is and why you need it...leave it alone.

alright so, tell me if I'm wrong or need to change something

1. install the NVMe PCIe on my motherboard
2. install the drivers via Samsung site + format to NTFS
3. install Samsung Data Migration
4. Cloning HDD to NVMe PCIe
5. shutdown the PC and disconnect the HDD
6. power up the PC and see if everything is alright
7. shut down the PC and reconnect the HDD and enter the Bios and change the order
8. save and power up the PC
9. say Thank you

the last thing that I want to know, does it matter if I have 2 - HDD? but only one of them have OS inside
(I mean if I should unplug both or just the OS)
and does the drive will call "C:/"?

so before cloning, I need to disconnect the other HDD
after the cloning and disconnect the OS HDD and power up the PC

wait for it to boot or go to bios to change the order?

(I'm very sorry if I drive you crazy with my stupid questions)

Yes...have only the drives needed to do the clone.
After the clone operation is done, power off.
Disconnect the old drive.
Power up and check the BIOS. You can remove any reference to the old drive then.
Continue the power up and see how it boots up from the new drive on its own.
