Cloning a HDD

Hi

I have decided to clone a HDD.

My intention is to keep the clone aside as a backup.

I would like to know when I do clone. Will the original HDD be able to be used as normal after the process is complete.

Yes, the original will be untouched.

And you should redo this clone or image on a regular basis. Weekly, monthly...some people even do it daily. A couple of the cloning tools do it unattended, on a schedule.

Yes you can use the original HDD as normal.
What do you mean by keeping it aside?
Like not connected or connect with OS and just in case the new/other HDD fails?
If you have both drives connected you'll need to point out in bios which one to use for boot.
