Cloning an SSD question!

Hi, I was thinking, a year ago, my dad bought a Samsung 512 GB SSD for his HP laptop, and I was wondering if I could clone a 512 GB SSD to a 500gb Seagate SSHD? I want to do a swap with a cheaper drive without my dad knowing. He is 51, so he won't notice his Win 7 laptop boots 10 secs slower XD. So is it possible to clone 512 GB to 500 GB? Thanks.
