Question Cloning OS from HDD to SSD

So i ordered an ssd and plane to clone the OS from HDD to SSD.My HDD has 2 partiton, one of them is C: drive which contain the OS stuff and the other D: drive which contain Games and other stuff.
What i wanna know is after Cloning and boot up from ssd, can i just format the C; drive partition and mix it with my D: drive which so that ill have the HDD as one partion?
Another question is, if i delete the C: drive partition will it affect my D: drive?and can i mix them both together

Ill send screencao of disk management window tomorrow.But the new ssd is kingston A400 480gb and only aroumd 230gb comsumed in current C: partition but the partition on HDD is divided into 2 438gb for C: and around 1.5tb for D: drive

For a straight drive clone to work, you're going to need a 2TB SSD.

So,is it okay to just clone the C: drive and leave the D: drive since im using the HDD as storage
Yes i do have external hd but mostly occupied

Migrating to the SSD, no problem. Steps below.
Cleaning up this HDD is going to require use of a 3rd party partition management tool.
GParted or Minitool Partition Wizard
However, anytime you mess with partitions, you really need a good backup of the contents.

Anyway, for the migration.

Specific steps for a successful clone operation:

Verify the actual used space on the current drive is significantly below the size of the new SSD

Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)

Power off

Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD

Power up

Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)

Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive. Uncheck the D partition.

Click the 'Clone' button

Wait until it is done

When it finishes, power off

Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD

This is to allow the system to try to boot from ONLY the SSD

Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive

Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order

If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.

Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and manage the partitions as needed.

Delete all partitions except the one with your stuff in it, and merge it all into one large partition.

Ask questions if anything is unclear.
