Cloning my boot drive NVMe SSD to an external NVMe SSD via USB.
(Using a NVMe enclosure)
Since this process will take a few hours I would like to continue working off my boot drive during the clone operation.
As long as I’m not copying huge files to from my boot drive, just launching applications, will this in any way affect the integrity of the clone?

Unless you have very large drives with a LOT of data, cloning should not take "a few hours".

I recovered a Macrium Image from my NAS to a replacement drive. (basically the same as a clone)
605GB data, from the NAS HDD, across a standard gigabit LAN, into a new SATA III SSD.....90 minutes start to finish.

If you were told the clone would be fine do you really want to risk it?

When I clone I don't touch anything until the clone is done.
