Hey.

I got a Sager P670Rs-G Laptop (Clevo based). It has 2xM.2 slots + 1 HDD port.

Currently, I have 1 hdd and 1 m.2 ssd installed.
I want to upgrade the ssd to a Samsung Evo 970 nvme.
The computer supports either 2xM.2 sdd's or 1xM.2 nvne x4. If I plug the 970 Evo (nvme) - the second slot will not be recognized.

Issue is - I have my operating system installed on the ssd. How do I transfer all data between the two ssd's? Can I clone the ssd to the hdd and back to the new ssd? What do I do with the operating system?

Solution
Don't "clone", but rather do it with an Image.

Macrium Reflect can do this easily.

1. Install Macrium
2. Create a Rescue CD or USB. It's under 'Other tasks'
3. Create an Image of the entire C drive...all partitions. This gets saved to the HDD
4. Swap the physical SSD's
5. Boot from the Rescue USB you created earlier
6. Tell it where that Image is, and which drive (the new SSD) to apply it to
7. Go.
8. At the end of this process, power OFF, remove the old SSD
9. Power up, and allow the system to try to start with only the new SSD.
