Hello,

I've got a HP 17 BY0088CL laptop and I'm trying to upgrade it's storage to an NVME drive (Crucial P3). I thought i had to clone from the HDD itself, so i removed the "16 GB PCIe® NVMe™ Intel® Optane™ Memory for storage acceleration" and installed the new drive. The laptop says there's no bootable drive.

I then tried cloning from that drive to the new NVME (with a Acasis offline cloner i borrowed) and still nothing. I can't find any answers and I'll take any help i can get.

I'd also rather avoid a clean install if possible.

The Intel Optane Memory for storage acceleration is not your boot drive, its just a memory cache to speed up performance. You need to clone your real boot hard drive. Refer to HP's maintenance manual.
