Closing windows

Hello,
I'll have 2 windows open, I close one and they both close. This is a recent development, about a month. Never happened before. Help?

What are the two windows open? Are they two separate programs?

The only way I can think of why they would do that is if they are a part of the same program and when you shut the main one down, they both go down.
