Hi peepz,

I had a question, mayb u guys don't know this gfx card, but me neither.. :x
I have seen it, it and it looks like a nice and good card.
But i really would like to know, could you compare this card with an Radeon 9800Pro and a FX5900?

If u want to take a look on the gfx card,
Go to www.club3d.nl
Go to Products, Choose for graphics cards, then chipset XGI.
U can see the Specifications, and a damn nicelooking gfxcard 😛

If u know it please reply my Post 😀
The only thing i want to know if it's better or less better then the 9800Pro and FX5900..

ThnQ 😀

XGI Volari Duo V8 are not good buy right now. You should buy a Radeon or GeForceFX.

The Volari have lot of drivers issue, they don't support many features well, they are overpriced...

If you want to have trouble, buy a Volari! Maybe the next generation of XGI GPU will be better, but right now, it's not a good investment.

Would you buy a potato powered chipset?

Club 3D is made in Powercolor so forget it lol. Don't by one! I have a Club3d 9800 Pro and its terrible! Hd to RMA twice lol

P4-2800->FSB800, Asus P4P800, 512DDR-400, Radeon 9800 Pro - 128Mb

<A HREF="http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/xgi-volari.html" target="_new">Read this review</A> and you will understnad why you will not buy the Volari!

The V8 duo will count itself lucky if it can get 50% of the framerate of a 9800 PRO in real-world situations where the V8's drivers have not been "optimized" to the point of visual vomit.

This post look soooooo out of place in the middle of 6800u thread.....

6800u vs volari hmmmmmmmm

Athlon 2700xp+ (oc: 3200xp+ with 200fsb) , Radeon 9800pro (oc: 410/370) , 512mb pc3200 (3-3-3-2), Asus A7N8X-X

Well it would be a good comparison for POWER draw and Heat production.

I'd LOVE to have seen that Sapphire R9800MAXX against a GF6800 though. That would really have been interesting.

Too bad it never made it was phased out even before completing testing.

I would buy a FX5200 or GF4 MX440 instead of Volari V8 Duo Ultra

I would buy an Atari 2600 instead of a Volari V8 Duo Ultra

man all Sapphire R9800MAXX is a silicon board + 2 GPUS. That thing wont work. The circuitry and the entire IC will have to be redesigned, and they didn't do that. They're just simply showing off!

Look we put 2 GPUs on a silicon board!!! it looks awesome!!!

That's the point, I would have like to see a WORKING version against a GF6800, now that would have been cool.

There was alot of talk about that being a challenger against the FX5900 depending on how it did against the R9800, because with the increased memory bandwidth and supposed redesign the FX5900 was to be a bigger leap in perfromance than it was.

In any case, I'd love to have seen a show down like that, as it would've provided a better dual VPU comparison than the Volari which can't even compete with the OLD generation from ATI/NV. Also it would have been a 16pipes versus 8+8 pipes showdown which would have been very interesting.

Now, relax, it's the weekend. Just enjoy the thought of such things.
