CM Hyper 212 Evo .VS. Zalman CNPS10X

Which of the cpu coolers in the title will achieve better performance on an overclocked fx 6300? They are near the same price point. The CM Hyper 212 Evo is more popular but the zalman cooler looks really good to.

honestly, I doubt you would be able to find too much of a difference in temps
the zalman looks to be a bit bigger, but the CM has direct contact heatpipes

I personally would go with the CM evo, just because I know it, and like it, but thats just me

The Zalman performs less than 1 degree cooler in synthetic tests, and 8db louder than the Hyper 212 PLUS

But the one you've linked is the hyper 212 EVO wich is even better than the PLUS, it has direct contact on heatpipes so it will performs somewhat even better than the PLUS, it also looks better IMO and the fan on it is better too and looks nicer, and it's better price too...and much quieter, 8db might not seems like that much when you say it like that but it is defenetly noticeable.

Ok. Thanks. I have a Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 that I do not use anymore. Are there any mounting kits I can purchase that would make it compatible with a AM3 Socket so that I can use it on a FX-6300 cpu?

If a mounting kit exist that i don't know, but if you go with the 212 and your notcua has a 120mm square fan on it, you would defenetly be able to re-use this fan on the 212 it comes with plastic clips so you can mount just about any 120mm fans you want on it...you could use both fans and have it in a push pull..

So yes there should be a backplate to mount it for AMD board, is it exactly this one that you have?

It is said on another website that the noctua NH-D14 use the standard AMD backplate, would you check in your motherboard box if you would have this plate? there should be one...i think you should be able to just bolt that thing onto your new mobo man...

It is only compatible with LGA2011 it looks like. I have not ordered the AM3 socket board yet so I am not sure what it comes with. I will try finding a way to use the NH-D14 SE2011 before buying the 212. I have already emailed noctua support hopefully they will have a solution. Thanks for the help, I will let you know how it goes after I get the board and try it out.
