I was browsing the web, you know, the average. When out of nowhere, both my screens went black as a disturbing popping similar to a stick of firecracker emanated from my PC. I immediately turned the power bar and PSU off to prevent further damage. As I did, I can smell a really pungent and acrid smell, which smelt like it was an electrical issue. I disassembled my PC, examining every single bit but when it came to the PSU, that's where the smell lingered around the most for, leading me to determine the PSU was the cause.
TL;DR: PSU went boom; pop.
PSU is just over 6 months old, a Cooler Master G650M. No physical damage that I can see, and I'm too scared to see if it still works, fearing an overvoltage and shorting out everything.
I have 2 questions:
1) Is it ok to test my PSU in this condition?
2) Is RMA worth it or should I just get a different brand?
Thank You!
