CML174!!!

hi everyone, other threads are raving about the CLM174, so i decided to look into getting one, and at dabs.com i found a CML174SXWB, the b means it is black, but is it the same as a CML174? the hitachi website says it has a response time of 12+4ms (16ms) so i suppose it must be, but i dont want to spend £421 before i am sure!!!!!

also do you recommend the CLM174? or is there something better, or maybe similar for less money?

I just received my black CML174 and the box it's in says CML174SXW-B, so they're one and the same.

Response is excellent. Black could be blacker (but most LCDs are pretty much the same in this regard). Brightness is superb (I have to set my down to 20 for comfort -- default is 100). Color is ever so slightly reddish, which i fixed through display properties. I have two dead subpixels but haven't made any decisions about whether to return it and try my luck on another yet.

What else can I say, great monitor.

From what I've heard CML174 is the generic product code/name. The SXW is specific for this model sold in the UK. They are the same monitor.

The only real negative is that it's a 17", which may be too small for some who are used to larger screens. I'm going to wait for the 19" models to come out probably next month.
