Hello, my RTC keeps changing time after 30 minutes after reset. My Z87 board come with my system that I bought. I have tried all the windows fixes with no luck. As suggested on this forum I am going to change my CMOS battery while in standby mode. I was just wondering if the battery change will change my factory overclock? If so then I should record all settings in BIOS to re enter after battery change. I sure hope the battery change fixes this. Been on this for 4 days now and is getting old. Thanks Any help appreciated.

Hi

Shut down do not suspend or standby before changing CMOS button battery
Disconnect from mains when working inside PC case

Changing will probably require resetting bios to default settings so you will probably have to reset over clocking options

The battery should be about 3.0 or 3.1 volts in 99% of cases
Do you have a volt meter to check voltage?

Does your PC connect to a time server ?
Is PC in correct time zone ?

Hi Mike, I don't have a volt meter, I can get on though. My system is on the internet time server and yes, I have the correct time zone. Just don't know why the system will hold the time for 30 minutes or so after reset then loses an hour and keeps losing time until I reset it. I have had this system for 8 months and just can't see that the battery is bad? This problem started after I cloned my old drive to a drive (ssd) that had more GB space and also just before daylight saving time. Don't know if any of that had anything to do with the time messing up? I sure need to fix this though.
