CMOS Error ,help needed

Hello,
I have a pc.
Lately it has been making a rattling sound
and showing CMOS error .
For the sound i changed the SMPS,it worked fine,
For CMOS error i tried replacing the CMOS battery,but in vain. How to fix this probelm??

I loaded the fail safe defaults in CMOS setup instead of optimised defaults.Will it do??
And also it is showing this error only if i start the system after shutting it down for a longtime.(like overnight,half a day)

It doesn't matter which defaults you load, but if the error shows up only when the system has been powered off for a long time, then there's an issue with the motherboard. Have the settings like date and time been lost when that happens? Do you disconnect or power off the PSU?

Yes the time,date settings are being lost every time it happens.They got to 01-01-2010.And no,i dont power off the PSU??

Have you replaced the CMOS battery? The settings could be lost because it's bad.
