So.. incase anyone doesn't know. Wireless and I are friends. We have been ever since he started OCing.

Somehow, we essentially have ended up with the exact same rig (other than the PSUs, Hard Drive, and Cases). So we push each other.. at everything. From DDR2-1200 Super Pi Benchmarks to OCing our 8800 GTS's to OCing our quad cores.

So anyways, this thread is about him and I competing... Mostly at 3D Mark 06. My personal goal is to break 17,000 with a single card setup. I've managed 16.3k and I just know with some more tweaking that 17k has to be possible.

Without further wait... here come some screenies in the next few posts from the both of us.

This is my "24/7" OC. I use it for gaming and everything else. Fan speed is set to 75% and it peaks around 56C on the GPU during full use in 3D Mark

Finally did it.

Here's a pic of the rig... kinda in shambles at the moment. Converting from the PC-A70B Lian Li back to a Cooler Master 690 and redoing the cooling.

And no, the Ultra Kaze's in the center and NOT hooked up. The only fans running are an exhaust fan, CPU fan, Dominator fan, and video card fan.

I have 3 Ultra Kazes, 2 Silverstones, and 1 Cooljag in that pic.

Going back to the 690 while I mod and water cool the Lian Li. Hopefully going to drop a quad core and R700 or "real" 9 series in it over the summer.

I've settled on a pretty decent OC on air for this rig, so I don't need it in the Lian-Li. Now I can concentrate on getting the Rheobus going and getting things tuned down for noise.

Edit: And yes, the 3000 RPM Ultra Kaze's when wide open are horrendously loud. I'm going to undervolt them in the CM690 so I have them when/if I feel like Benching again. For the most part I've done/proved everything I want to do with this rig.

I'm doing a little stuff myself.......I'm going to get 4 gigs of Ram, but I'm selling the regular ballistix I have to a friend for $30 and buying 2 2x1 kits of the Tracer....it comes out with the same price with cool LEDs.

Then like you know I'm getting more cooling......either all blue, red + blue, or just stick with the 3 blue fans I have and get regular fans......

Do you know how I can change the Rheobus so it stays blue all the time and how to make the LEDs less bright....

Edit: Can you give me a link to a version of 3D Mark 06......I'm curious to see what I get and all the ones I've tried dont work

As far as color no, but you can wire a resistor into the LED to dim it or replace the LED. The other option is cutting the wire to the LED and not having one.

Personally.. I'm not a HUGE fan of LEDs on fans. I like them in a lot of places... I just don't like them on fans. I had 4x1 GB in that board with a 400 MHz FSB. I went back to 2 GB of Ballistix since there was no point in having 3.5 GB when I can use this DDR2-800 elsewhere.

Well I got Vista 64 and boy is it a hog of memory.......thats why I want more and it wont hurt.

I wasn't sure about LED fans.....you most likely wouldn't see them anyways with the TR120 in the way....but they're nice in the front..

I thought a transistor would do fine. My geeky friend will help me out (think were building him a PC. He helped on mine.)

And youre already thinking about more upgrades later......sheesh. Talking about the 9 series and R700 and you just got a G92 GTS.

I've wanted to do an SLI/CF setup for a while but I've been waiting...

HD3870s aren't powerful enough for me.. 680i's won't overclock quads far enough without a big headache. 780i's? Well.. 9 Series is too close for that.

I'll probably end up waiting til Nehalem and getting one with DDR3 and a couple Larrabees.

Here we go lol. Your making it all hard for me to be content with my current oc's! Ah well looks like I have some work to do now. I need to work on the 3.8ghz again and further the oc on the card as well now. I guess now would be a good time to lapp the cpu and heatsink :)

Well here is what I have so far. The oc on the card is somewhat sloppy atm. But I'll work on it.

Here is what MY rig looks like

I'm going to work on the Ocing tomorrow night and then update my scores.

this is going to be tough.

Oh and I got 2030 because that is how awesome I am... I was passed out asleep and I got a text message. No it wasn't from that crazy girl either... Anyways...

I dunno, I got some quirks in my card. At 826 core clock it would crap out with 1971 shaders, the max was 1964... Soo.. I dropped the core back 6 MHz and got more out of the shaders.

I'm thinking 18k is going to be harder.

My 3.8Ghz puts your 3.8Ghz to same dude. At least in Vcore. I know that was only a few min but I dont have any screens of me stressing it 8+ hours. It has passed Small FFT's for 8 hours before.

And here is my 3dmark, Just need some tweaking! I'm not letting you leave me in the dust dude..

Haha.. the goal was 17k. You'll get it tomorrow night while I'm at school!

The new goal is going to be 18k... just gotta figure out where in the world I can get some head room to OC further.

I'm getting closer, Last night I was running 3.9Ghz fine and 810/2010/1100 but it locked up in the LAST 10 seconds of the last scene in 3dmark... I donno man, You might have the better card for this one. Only thing I can rely on is my CPU using less voltage to stay stable than you. But even then your temps are better because you lapped.

I'll see what I can do tonight only need 400 more points = P 😀

Windows Classic is great... I don't know, just don't feel like dealing with the flashyness.

And my temps are horrible compared to yours. You have a much better VID.

Try 805 or 800/2030 or 2040. Dropping the GPU core helped run shaders higher.

How did you guy achieve such stable o/cs at such low voltages, mine was pretty decent the other day til i fed it some voltage and ran prime on it. now i cant achieve 3.8 without going over 1.65v in the bios

The only 24/7 Prime Stable OC I use is 400x9 @ 1.4vCore.

The other stuff I don't plan on using for 24/7 and don't need it to be rock solid. If it passes 10 minutes of Small FFT and 20 minutes of Blend than it is good enough for Benching on.

That being said, every chip is different. Wireless's uses less voltage than mine to get stable at 3.6 GHz. This also means it generates less heat. Its the luck of the draw.

yeah, i know, you guys making me use prime on my computer 2 days ago, has messed with the stablity of 3.6-3.8, i have to use higher voltages now and i probably did some damage as a result but last night i was acting better, i thought that since you guys have the same mobo, that u guys tweeked it differently than everyone else

hey another question, do u think it would be wise to buy another video card meaning a 3850 or 3870 and run them in a crossfire since i have a p35 board or get a 8800 gts 512 card, i can get crossfire for about 40 bucks more than the 8800 gts

8800 GTS > CF.

On that board CF is 16/4 so it really isn't that great. P45 will have better Crossfire Solution with 8/8 PCIe2.0.

Prime95 isn't going to damage it.

Read Coretemp and tell me what the VID is on the processor.
