Hi
Just got a Ryzen 5 1600 with a Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3.

My RAM is clocked at 2400

I have this one:
G.SKILL Flare X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4 19200) AMD X370 / B350 / A320 Memory (Desktop Memory) Model F4-2400C15D-16GFX
I m new to overclocking RAM but I understand that I can get it to run near 3000.

Need to save some money? I get it. You want the performance from the higher performing memory kits, but don’t want to pay for it. We recommend G. Skill’s Flare X Series DDR4 2400 Model F4-2400C15D-16GFX. Voltage starts at 1.2V and it’s likely you’ll be able to mirror the performance of the higher-end F4-3200C14D with some additional voltage. As this Ram costs around $100, you’ll be able to save some serious cheese. No guarantees on this one, but we’re hearing good things.

Has anyone achieve this with a stable build? What setting did you use to do so?

Thanks

Good luck with that... Ryzen is really picky about ram, many people is struggling to get their 3200 clocked ram to run 3200... I guess I am being too negative. Do all the steps photonboy suggested down there, if you can make it work, that will be great :)

Many of the 2400Mhz kits use memory capable of running at much higher speeds as they can contain the exact same chips, but are simply used on lower frequency kits to fill a supply need.

All you can do is experiment.

Depending on your motherboard there are several options such as:

1) A-XMP (just try and see what you get)
2) enable "Memory Try It" and let the motherboard boot/test/reboot and try to set a profile itself

3) try different preconfigured settings (2666Mhz, 2933Mhz etc with preset timings)
4) if no love, may need to experiment in more detail such as manual frequency, voltage etc

You should also do a full pass with MEMTEST86 any time you set a new profile www.memtest86.com

Hi there, how did you get on with your RAM overclock? I have the same modules but the 32gb kit. Best I've managed is 2933 MHz with 1.35v and CL16 timings. The XMP on these is what my board boots up on in standard mode. Impressed that they have been able to reach 2933 MHz as they are not meant to be particularly good chips (Hynx i think) although they have been tailored to work with Ryzen.

Using the XMP on this RAM is not the way to reach the max OC. The XMP is 2400MHz at CL 16 on 1.2v. The question from Sepota is can these stick OC to 3200MHz as stated in the article shared in the original question. I had to disable XMP to get mine (same ram) stable at 2933MHz with XMP timings of 16-16-16-39-55 with 1.35v.

I did try 3200 MHz and machine wouldn't post. I suspect slacker timings would be required. Be assured however that you can go alot further with this RAM than the XMP.

XMP does nothing on these sticks and there is no extreme XMP profile. Manual clocking is the way to go.

I got my G-skill Flare 2400 2 x 8 kit to run stable at 2933. 16-16-16-42-tRAS 42- tRC66-1T and 1.35 V. No other changes. Asus prime plus B350, Ryzen 5 1600, BIOS 3805. Any speed above that is unstable. Gets slight improvement in Cinebench and PassMark
