Your house could be wired with two more more different coax "networks". An example of this would be if you had Comcast or some other cable provider for you internet, in addition to, let's say, Directv for your television.

Assuming your TV and internet are coming from the same source, any coaxial will provide you service in your house.
Carries both.

The only thing you have to worry about, if there are multiple TVs in the house and you are using a signal booster, the Internet tap should be BEFORE the booster (best practice), or booster must be of the 2-way type because Internet is 2-ways communication.
